dc.description.abstractThe Imjingang belt is located between the Gyeonggi massif and Nangrim massif, and has been considered as the Permo-Triassic collisional belt. This master degree thesis concentrates on the metamorphic evolution and geochronological approach of garnet amphibolite to understand the tectonic environment of the Imjingang belt. The garnet amphibolite mainly consists of amphibole + plagioclase + garnet + diopside + quartz + titanite + rutile. It emplaced at ca. 367 ± 3 Ma estimated by zircon U-Pb age dating technique. The early Devonian tectonic movement of Paleo-Qinling orogenic belt influenced mafic magmatism in the Injingang belt. After that, the Imjingang belt underwent regional metamorphism (588-803 °C and 5.9-12.2 kbar) corresponding to upper amphibolite facies at ca. 237 ± 9 Ma and 265 ± 15 Ma. These Permo-Triassic metamorphic events agree well with the regional metamorphism reported from other areas of the Imjingang belt and Gyeonggi Massif.-
