상호저축은행의 군집행동에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 상호저축은행의 군집행동에 대해 연구해보고, 군집행동을 야기하는 요인에 대해 분석하였다. 군집행동(Herd Behavior)이란 개별 경제주체가 다른 경제주체의 영향을 받아 유사한 행태를 보임을 의미한다. 평균 따라잡기 방식(전기, 동기)을 통한 군집행동정도를 측정 하였으며, 각각의 측정방식은 순차적인 군집행동과 같은 기간대의 군집행동을 보여 주었다.

분석기간은 2001년 상반기부터 2011년 하반기까지 개별 저축은행의 대출증가율을 이용하여 저축은행의 대출에 관한 군집행동에 관하여 분석하였으며, 관련변수의 경우 개별저축은행 특성변수는 이자수익비중, 신용대출비중, 고정이하 여신비율, 개별저축은행의 대출비중, 자금의 단기화정도, 거시 및 산업변수는 시장집중도(HHI)지수, 예대마진, 경기변동정도 자료를 이용하여 실증분석 하였다. 분석모형은 확률효과모형을 이용하여 결과를 도출하였다.

그 결과, 상호저축은행의 총 대출시장에서 평균 따라잡기 방식의 경우 2009 하반기와 2010년 상반기 군집행동이 높게 나타난 것으로 보였다. 또한 군집행동을 야기하는 요인으로는 전기 따라잡기의 경우 이자수익비중과 시장집중도 변수와 유의미한 값을 가졌으며, 이는 정보생산능력이 취약한 저축은행일수록 대출시장에 군집행동이 심화될 수 있음을 보여주었다. 동기의 경우 개별저축은행의 대출비중과 시장집중도 변수가 유의미한 값을 가져 이는 대출규모의 변동이 다른 저축은행의 대출행태에 영향을 주어 군집행동이 나타날 수 있음을 보여 주었다.

This paper analyzed herd behavior in saving banks using correlation method. I interpreted herd behavior to move the similar pattern by the interaction of participants. This paper estimated herding index was proposed by Jong-Ku Kang(2010) and what variables affected herd behavior. In the model I used the growth rate of individual saving bank loan to measure herd behavior in saving banks. Data set was collected from first half of 2001 to second half of 2011. The estimation results showed that: First, Korean saving banks herding intensity in loan market was high from second half of 2009 to first half of 2010. Second, the result of empirical estimations the intensity of each saving bank's herding as explanatory variables reveals that a saving bank with smaller amount of information is more likely to herd : The lower the interest income ratio, the higher the intensity of herding. And the variation of loan amount effects on the behavior of other saving banks loan : the higher HHI and loan market share, the more it is likely to herd.
