- Abstract
- Dhaka is the fastest growing megacity city of Bangladesh. Being capital, as land is used for the rapid and unplanned urbanization, green landis getting scare and severe pollution is created by waste products. Plastic, the most alarming waste at landfill sites, is yet uncontrolled. Therefore, initiatives must be taken to reduce plastic pollution and increase recycling green application. However, increasing green land is not possible due to the landfill by urban structures, thus it is worth to design green landscape on urban structures such as rooftop garden, vertical garden or façade garden. In this study, we have proposed a common solution to solve both problems of pollution and loss of green land. The solution could mean a new green revolution in Bangladesh. The project is successfully designed and developed a design guideline for rooftop garden using recyclable waste materials based on the context ofDhaka, Bangladesh. Recyclable waste materials to make garden materials to enhance the space for urban gardening as well as agriculture in a low costing approach. Also to improve the micro climate of the buildings suitable plants are also listed up efficiently based on the surrounded weather. Here, I report a standard rooftop garden design guidelines which can minimize the gap between the current status of green roof in Bangladesh and a model green roof designed by research based guidelines using recycled waste materials.
