『혜빈궁일기』와 궁궐 여성 처소의 일상

Abstract

『혜빈궁일기』는 서울대학교 규장각한국학연구원에 소장된 한문한글필사본 자료이다. 한문으로 된 부분도 있고 한글로 된 부분도 있는 필사본이다. 혜빈궁은 사도세자의 부인인 혜경궁 홍씨의 또 다른 이름으로, 사람에게 붙은 이름인 동시에 궁궐 처소를 나타내는 말이기도 하다. 『혜빈궁일기』는 혜빈궁 처소의 일지인 셈이다. 이는 궁궐 여성 지존 처소의 일지로는 유일한 것이다. 『혜빈궁일기』는 혜경궁 생애 전체에 걸쳐 남아 있지 않고, 1764년과 1765년의 이 년 치 두 권만 남아 있다. 불과 두 해의 기록에 불과하지만 유사한 다른 자료가 없다는 점에서, 궁중여성사, 궁중풍속사 등의 연구에 매우 높은 가치를 지닌 자료라고 말할 수 있다. 『혜빈궁일기』는 혜빈궁에서 어떤 일이 있었는지 알려주고 있는데, 첫 번째는 문안 인사와 제사 등 궁중 의식이고, 두 번째는 의식(衣食)과 관련된 기본 생활 정보이며, 세 번째는 내관, 궁녀, 여종들에 대한 관리이다. 구체적으로는 궁궐에서 간장이나 김치를 담는 일, 옷감을 나누고 염색을 하는 것, 단오, 유두, 중양절 등에 진상하고 하사한 물건 등을 볼 수 있고, 또 별감과 궁녀 및 여종들이 어떻게 근무했고 어떻게 살았는지 다른 기록에서 좀처럼 보기 힘든 내용들이 적지 않다.

Hyebingungilgi is a palace journal of the Crown Princess Hyebin [Hyegyeong (1735- 1815)] who was the mother of the King Jeongjo and the wife of Crown Prince Sado. She was appointed as a Crown Princess in 1744 and bestowed with the title of Hyebin after her husbands famous death in 1762, and also bestowed with the title of Hyegyeong upon her sons enthronement as King in 1776. She is famous for a writing Hanjoongrok (Memoirs of Lady Hyegyeong) which is one of the most famous works in the Korean literary history. Hyebingungilgi was the official journal written by persons working on the Palace. It is the only article as a official journal made by the palace owned by a female. It is held in the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies, Seoul National University. It is a literary Chinese and Hangeul manuscript book, total 2 volume, one in each year 1764 and 1765. Hyebingungilgi which tells us what kind of things happened in Hyebingung, such as greetings and rituals and daily life. There are a lot of interesting contents such as making soy sauce and kimchi in the palace, coloring cloths. And there are not many content that rarely can be seen in other records as to how the officers and staff worked and how they were alive. It is a very important material for the research of the history of the Joseon palace, especially the history of the female in Joseon palace.
