The purpose of this study was to outline the present status of cable contents market in Korea. For this, we analyzed the program manufacturer - cable channel relationship using the SNA(Social Network Analysis) technique, mainly focusing on 3 main indices: numbers of contents, televised times, and ratings. The results indicates that Korean cable stations seem to depend on outer contents such as overseas programs or the contents which were already aired in major television stations greatly. For instance, overseas programs including movies, cartoons, fashion programs, and reality shows hold dominant positions in all three indices. Also this situation is same for the case of re-transmitted programs; especially, in terms of ratings, the programs originally from major broadcasting stations score very high point. From these evidences, it could be concluded that the present Korean cable channels are really subordinate and uncharacteristic. The cable channel - program manufacturer network results also show that Korean broadcasting contents market has two noticeable features. First, the self-manufactured contents are very insignificant in the market, unlike as they are supposed to be. If the concept of broadcasting diversity should be a common goal for all actors in the market, each cable channels should develop their own contents in order to reveal unique characteristic. However, our results indicate this notion is not adaptable to this case unfortunately. Second, it can be inferred that the market itself is in very rigid and inflexible state from the high score of network degree and low score of network density. Shortly speaking, despite almost all of nodes are connected each other, the fact that its density is low can mean the present broadcasting contents market is based on a '1 on 1' bargain relationship basically. Again, this would be a problem because this might deprive the market of the concept of free trade by making each contract exclusive. In conclusion, our results indicate that Korean cable industry cut both the broadcasting diversity and viewers' right to choose any television channels. It should be changed, no need to say, because not only it debase the reason that cable channels should exist, but it also it might make people lose their interest in cable medium.-
