'모나드 셀'을 통한 인간관계 속 자아 표현 연구

Abstract

This study researches on the artworks created under the theme of Human Relations and Co-Existence from 2014 to 2018 and suggests the artworks systematically by analyzing the creation motive and purpose, theoretical grounds during creation process, formative characteristic of the artworks, and expression techniques. The Korean word for Human implies the meaning of Between and this world of numerous doors between people is the aggregate of Myself. It is difficult for human beings to exist by getting away from the influence of the space they are occupying. Also, there are invisible doors that exist between the existential ego of the world and internal ego within the inner side. The modern urban society where modern people live on embraces the human alienation within the large and small groups. Guarantee of thorough anonymity brought standardization and the individuals feel much more alienation in such standardized society. As the unique presence becomes vague, human beings feel unstable and the variability of human relations cause anxiety and agony. To explore the possibility of connection between people in such situation, this study arranged theoretical bases and started painting about them. The artworks were based on the philosophical preceding researches and the inductive exploration on the deductive reflection for personal understanding on human beings and personal thoughts toward human relations. Then, the artworks were created by adding own creative interpretation. The contents of the artworks were made by utilizing the Monad Cell devised by me as the motif for the work. For making the background, I applied water and color on hanji (traditional Korean paper) several times. I thought that the collage work of continuing or separating the cells over time was similar to how people form relationship in the society and manage through the human relations. In the long process of composing the screen over time, I wen through analog work procedure repeatedly and I experienced the state of selflessness where my complicated thoughts were gone and the body and minds got clear. This study is largely composed of Introduction, Ego and Monad Cell in Human Relations, Ego Expression in Human Relations, Formative Characteristic and Material Technique, and Conclusion. In chapter I, this study briefly suggested the purpose and subject of artworks reflecting the considerations on human society and co-existence. In chapter II, this study covered the background for creation of artworks to establish the theoretical basis before analyzing the artworks. In part one, this study examined the modern society where human alienation is occurring. In part two, this study clarified the meaning, background of formation, and formation process for Monad Cell as the motif of the artworks. In chapter III, this study had in-depth analysis on artworks expressions which describes the relationships and emotional exchange between human beings. In the chapter, this study showed how artworks tried to express the internal and external efforts for co-existing with others and classified the artworks in to series based on each content. In part one, this study covered <The Same Earth> series which described the individuals who realized their selves within the society and who became the part of the world to co-exist with others. Also, <Room for Each One> series described the internal space of each individual. Based on these artwork series, this study examined withdrawing individuals. In part two, this study analyzed <Difficult Relation> and <Relation Knot> series which described the individuals caring others and continuing the relationship even having difficult relation and <Approach> series which suggested the fundamental solutions for difficult human relations based on active approach to others. In chapter IV, this study examined the formative characteristics and expressive research process expressed on the artworks based on the analysis of previous chapters and described about the technical aspects. This study tried to discuss about how texture of hanji is expressed in the screen with blank spaces. Lastly, chapter V summarized the previous chapters, discussed about the research results, and suggested the future direction. Based on the research, this study aims to solidify the theoretical basis for A Study on Ego within Human relations through Monad Cell and seek direction for future artworks.

본 논문은 2014년부터 2018년까지 인간관계와 공존이라는 주제로 제작된 본인의 작업을 대상으로 그 창작 동기와 목적, 제작과정에서 나타난 이론적 근거, 작품의 조형적 특성과 표현기법 등을 분석함으로써 본인의 작업을 체계적으로 제시하기 위한 작품연구 논문이다. 인간이란 본디 사이라는 뜻을 내포하며 사람 사이의 수많은 문들이 서로 맞닿는 이 세상은 수많은 나의 집합체이다. 인간은 그들 스스로 점유하고 있는 공간의 영향을 벗어나서 존재하기 어렵다. 이에 체험되는 세계 속에서 실존하는 자아와 내면에 존재하는 자아 사이에도 보이지 않는 문이 존재한다. 현대인들의 삶의 터전인 현대 도시 사회는 크고 작은 집단 안에서 발생하는 인간소외를 껴안고 있다. 철저한 익명성의 보장이 도리어 획일화를 불러일으켰고 그 속에서 개인이 느끼게 되는 고립감은 더욱 커졌다. 고유한 존재감이 옅어짐에 따라 흔들리는 개인의 삶과 인간관계의 가변성이 주는 불안과 고뇌 속에서 본인은 그들이 연대할 수 있는 가능성을 탐구하고자 연구의 이론적 토대를 마련하고 이를 그림으로 그리기 시작했다. 작업은 철학적 선행연구를 토대로 하고, 인간에 대한 이해와 인간관계에 대한 본인의 생각을 연역적으로 대입해보고 귀납적으로 탐구한 것을 바탕으로 한다. 이에 본인만의 창의적인 해석을 더해 작품화하고자 하였다. 작업의 내용은 본인이 구상한 모나드 셀을 작업의 모티브로 활용하여 제작되었다. 배경을 제작하는 방법은 한지 위에 수차례 물과 색을 입히는 방식이다. 본인은 시간을 들여 셀을 이어 붙이거나 떼는 콜라주 작업과정이 인간사회에서 관계를 형성하고 이를 우리 스스로 운영해가는 방식과 닮아 있다고 생각했다. 물과 색 그리고 시간이 만나 화면을 구성하게 되는 긴 과정에서 작가는 반복적으로 아날로그적인 작업 절차를 거치게 되고 그 안에서 작가 스스로 복잡했던 의식이 비워지며 몸과 마음이 맑아지는 무아(無我)의 경지를 체험하기도 한다. 본 논문의 구성은 크게 머리말, 인간관계 속 자아와 모나드 셀, 인간관계 속 자아의 표현, 조형적 특성과 재료기법, 맺음말 로 구성되어 있다. 제Ⅰ장에서는 인간사회와 공존에 대한 고찰을 담은 작품 제작의 목적과 주제를 간략히 제시하고자 하였다. 제Ⅱ장에서는 본인의 작업 분석에 앞서 본인의 작품이 탄생하게 된 배경에 대해 다루어 이론적 기초를 확립하고자 하였다. 1절에서는 인간 소외 현상이 발생하고 있는 현대사회의 한 단면을 살펴보고, 2절에서는 본인의 작업의 모티브가 되는 모나드 셀이 상징하는 바와 형성 배경, 그리고 형성 과정에 대하여 밝히고자 한다. 제Ⅲ장에서는 인간관계 속에서 발생하는 관계와 감정의 교류를 그리는 본인의 작품의 표현을 심도 있게 분석한다. 인간이 타인과 공존하기 위한 내적·외적인 노력을 기울이는 모습을 그린 본인의 작품을 각각 내용에 따른 시리즈로 구분하여 서술하고자 함이다. 1절에서는 개인이 사회 속 자신에 대하여 인지하고 타인과 공존하기 위하여 세계의 일부가 된 개인들을 그려 낸 <The Same Earth> 시리즈와 개개인의 내면의 공간을 그린 <저 마다의 방> 시리즈를 중심으로 침잠하는 개인의 모습을 조망하였다. 2절에서는 쉽지 않은 인간관계 속에서도 서로를 배려하고 그 관계를 이어가는 <쉽지 않은 관계>와 <관계매듭> 시리즈를 중심으로 분석하고, 타인을 향한 능동적인 움직임을 바탕으로 하여금 어려운 인간관계 속 근본적인 해결점을 제시하는 <다가가다> 시리즈를 중심으로 서술하고자 하였다. 제Ⅳ장에서는 앞장에서 분석한 본인의 작품에 대한 분석 내용을 기반으로 하여 본인의 작업에 드러나는 조형적 특성과 표현 연구 과정에 대하여 살펴보고 기법적인 측면에 대하여 서술하고자 하였다. 여백을 담고 있는 화면 위에서 한지의 결이 작업에서 어떠한 형상으로 혹은 방식으로 발현되는지 논의하도록 하겠다. 마지막으로 제Ⅴ장에서는 본론에서 다룬 내용들을 요약하고, 연구를 통해 얻은 결과와 나아갈 방향을 논한다. 이상의 연구를 통하여 모나드 셀을 통한 인간관계 속 자아 표현 연구에 대한 이론적 토대를 확고히 하고 향후 지속할 작업의 방향을 모색하고자 한다.
