Abstract
This research attempts to interpret the surviving image in Kim Jong-Sams poetry served as a dynamic reminder of immanent divinity. Existing researches have broadly discussed that Kim Jong-Sams poetry expresses the vertical dualism stem from the Western world, focusing on the Christianity view of world that emphasizes denial of reality and transcendence to heaven. Notwithstanding, Kim Jong-Sams poetry visualizes the original divinity of the Korean nationality (Chapter 2), reminds the divinity to oppressed people (Chapter 3) and counteracts the mechanism of war and fascism (Chapter 4). Particularly, the image of Kim Jong-Sams poetry can be contemplated with Georges Didi-Hubermans idea Survival (Nachleben).

Images of history in 1950s Kim Jong-Sams poetry have similarities with the thought of Gaebyeok (開闢), which is a history-philosophy of Donghak (東學), since the images are correlated with the apocalyptic/circular viewpoint of the history. The images of Gaebyeok in his poetry remind the ethnic origin based on the divinity, expressing the precise moment when repetitive war and conflict reverses to love and peace. Divinity as a national origin is recollected by the image of the place where the transition between invisible divinity and visible reality operates. This particular usage of images is related to the concepts of image expressed in Anglo-Saxon modernist poetics and the tradition of exegesis in Western medieval philosophy. Furthermore, the images in Kim Jong-Sams poetry reveal the temporality that depicts past and future simultaneously in the present. This anachronism reminds the memories of sacrificed human beings and at the same time, visualizes the hope for restoration of immanent divinity.

By deconstructing the prevalent dichotomy that understands poetry as pure literature and prose as engagement literature, which was the shared prerequisite of Mallarmé and Sartre, Kim Jong-Sams poetry in 1960s sought a third way of engagement. The Orphic engagement of Kim Jong-Sams poetry resonates with the mysticism of Orphic religion in Rolland de Renévilles poetic criticism, which is overcoming the individualism based on the duality of divinity and humanity. This Orphic engagement emasculates the hierarchy of the center and the periphery, materializing the feminist vision of the divinity. Besides, the images of children as Orpheus images infuse the movement of life into an adult-centered history which has focused on the logic of conflict and produced repetitively sacrifice of innocent human beings. Furthermore, Kim Jong-Sams poetry in 1960s presents images of small power nations preserving the divinity as an ethnic origin standing up to constant oppression of imperialism and fascism.

After 1970s, Kim Jong-Sams poetry referred Einsteins idea to diagnose the crisis of civilization, such as the development of nuclear weapons. He proposed unity with cosmic divinity as an attempt to realize ultimate peace in the crisis. In this context, Kim Jong-Sams poetry criticized Valéry, who defended the individual and intellectual spirit, rather agreed with Rilkes thought that cosmic divinity could be internalized and visualized through the human spirit. The images of waves and dreams in his 1970s works express the deceased poets undead spirits, which have achieved an artistic creativity through adhering with suffering human. This relates with the religious view of Helen Keller, according to the mysticism of Swedenborg, emphasizing spiritual friendship with the departed. Lastly, images of people in his poetry correspond with Dostoevskys concept of people, describing indestructible humanity and vitality counteracting the logic of fascism. Consequently, Kim Jong-Sams poetry reaches the thought that the people are poets.
