Abstract
The innovation process and antecedents for innovative idea and behavior was important part of innovation research. As industry environment changed, fast and frequent innovation implementation is issued in recent. In this study, I investigated innovation process through team level to understand organizational innovation process and divided the innovation process as will and ability part to understand fast and frequent innovation process. Especially, the will part consist of collective resistance and commitment. The innovation ability means collective efficacy to innovation. The antecedents of innovation will is 3 tiers of social factors which are institutional support, leader support and peer support. For innovation ability, I consider resource availability which is material resource, personnel resource, conceptual resource and time resource. I collected data from 83 work teams in 11 Korean organizations which were 29 business sector teams and 54 military sector teams. Two types of questionnaires were utilized for avoiding common method bias. In result, social factors negatively effected on collective resistance to innovation while positively effected on collective commitment to innovation. In social factor, leader support was most effective to innovation resistance. The collective resistance to innovation is negatively effective on innovation implementation. The collective commitment to innovation and collective efficacy to innovation was positively effective to innovation implementation. In military sector, material resource availability and time resource availability were positively effective on collective efficacy to innovation.
The findings emphasize the importance of resistance to innovation and social factors work on innovation process. To reduce the innovation resistance leader support, institutional support and peer support is important and the leader support is most effective source to reduce innovation resistance. The objective factors for innovation have to be considered in military sector which normally not enforced in innovation process
