12음 기법에 있어 음렬 선택기준에 관한 고찰

Abstract

조성체계의 해체 이후 새로운 음조직 체계의 필요에 따라 아놀드 쇤베르크(Arnold Schönberg)는 12음 기법(twelve-tone technique)이라는 새로운 작곡기법을 창안하였다. 이는 그의 동료이자 제자인 알반 베르크(Alban Berg), 안톤 베베른(Anton Webern), 그리고 이후의 전음렬주의(total serialism)음악에 이르기까지 커다란 영향을 미쳤다. 동일한 음렬에 의한 작품이라도 48개의 음렬(원형, 전위형, 역행형, 전위 역행형 및 그 이도형) 중 어떤 음렬을 어떻게 선택하고 운용하는 지에 따라 전혀 다른 음악이 된다는 점에서 작곡과정에 있어 음렬의 선택기준은 작곡가의 표현의지와 작품의 구조적 측면에 결정적인 영향을 끼치는 요인이 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서 고찰한 음렬의 선택기준은 12음 기법을 활용함에 있어 결코 간과할 수 없는 본질적인 사항이라 할 수 있다.

Since the dissolution of tonal system, with necessity of new structure of tonal system, Arnold Schönberg created the new compositional technique called twelve-tone technique. The technique has widely influenced on his colleague and disciple, such as Alban Berg and Anton Webern, and total serialism music. Schönbergs music composed with twelve-tone technique could have differentiations depends on method of selecting and arranging a certain tone row derived from forty eight tone rows (original, inversion, retrograde, retrograde-inversion, and multiplication); 'The standards for selecting tone row in the process of composing' are the most significant factor of composers compositional ideas and structure of his works. Consequently, 'Standards in tone row selection' with utilizing twelve-tone technique, especially Schoenbergs composition, is considered to be historically and theoretically valuable study.
