본 논문은 본인의 석사과정 졸업 연주의 프로그램에 속한 네 곡에 대한 분석과 연구이다. 각 작품의 작곡배경과 특징을 살펴보고 작곡자의 의도를 정확하게 이해하고 해석함으로서 실제연주와 음악에 있어 효과적으로 연주할 수 있는 기반을 마련하는 데에 중점을 두었다.

바흐 (Johann Sebastian Bach, 1685-1750)는 바로크 시대의 거두로서 개혁자가 아닌 완성자로 평가된다. 바흐의 대표적인 건반모음곡은 영국 모음곡 6곡, 프랑스 모음곡 6곡, 파르티타 6곡이 있는데 모두 하프시코드를 위해 작곡한 곡이다. 이 모음곡들은 알르망드(Allemande), 쿠랑트(Curante), 사라방드(Sarabande), 지그(Gigue)를 기본악장으로 하며 대부분 사라방드와 지그 사이에 선택적으로 삽입 할 수 있는 미뉴엣(Menuet), 가보트(Gavotte), 부레(Bourre)등의 춤곡을 갖는다. 영국조곡 제 3번은 바로크 건반 모음곡의 기본형식을 충실히 지켜 완성한 곡으로 악장 배열과 곡 형식의 틀을 잘 지키고 있으며 바흐만의 독창적인 작곡 기법이 잘 나타나 있다. 총 6곡으로 프렐류드(Prelude) - 알르망드 - 쿠랑트 - 사라방드 - 가보트 - 지그로 이루어져 있으며, 가보트Ⅱ만 같은 으뜸음조인 G장조이고 다른 악장들은 모두 g단조로 모두 통일되어 있다. 형식은 프렐류드와 가보트를 제외하고 2부분 형식이며 대위법적인 양식으로 작곡되었다. 각 악장의 처음에 제시되는 주제 선율에서 그 악장을 선율진행과, 음악적 기법, 화성등을 함축적으로 표현하고 있는 것을 볼 수 있는데 바흐가 얼마나 계획적으로 각 악장을 작곡했는지 짐작할 수 있다.

하이든 (Franz Joseph Haydn, 1732-1809)은 고전시대의 대표적인 작곡가로서 고전시대의 가장 중요한 형식구조였던 소나타 형식을 완성시켰다. 하이든 소나타 Hob. ⅩⅥ/46는 초기의 디베르멘토 형식에서 탈피한 소나타 형식으로 음악적 착상 및 스타일에 있어 초기 소나타들과는 상당히 다른 전환기적 작품이다. 이 곡에서 하이든이 작성한 주제 목록에는 초기 소나타들과 마찬가지로 디베르멘토로 명명되어 있지만, 미뉴엣 악장이 없는 Allegro 형식의 1악장과 Adagio로 서정성이 돋보이는 2악장, Presto로 아주 빠른 스케일과 분산화음이 크게 활용되는 3악장으로 이루어져 있으며, 셈여림의 표현이 강해지고 형식은 전과 같은 맥을 유지하면서 확장되었다.

라흐마니노프 (Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff 1873-1943)는 19-20세기에 걸쳐 살며 급변하는 시대 상황과는 상반되게 낭만주의 음악만을 고수한 작곡가, 피아니스트겸 지휘자였고, 러시아 후기 낭만주의를 대표하는 최후의 작곡가라고 할 수 있다. 그의 피아노 작품에는 러시아 특유의 서정적인 선율과 힘찬 리듬, 꽉 차여진 화성등의 특징이 잘 나타나 있는데, 이러한 그의 음악 세계를 충실히 반영하고 있는 작품 중 하나가 바로 Moments Musicaux Op.16 이다. 이 작품은 1896년에 작곡 되었고 곡의 구성은 짤막한 6개의 악장이 모아진 형태인데 각각의 곡들은 조성과 템포에 있어서 상관관계를 가지고 배열되어 있다. 제 1-2곡, 3-4곡이 관계조로 배치되어 있고 단조였는 반면, 제 5곡으로 오면서 장조로 바뀌고 아무런 연관성을 갖지 않은 조성 관계로 독립성을 띄게 된다. 이러한 조성의 배치는 곡 전체의 분위기를 슬프고 어두운 분위기에서 점차 밝고 희망적인 느낌으로 전환시킨다. 템포에 있어서도 두 악장씩 느림-빠름의 구성을 교대하는 식으로 배치되어 있다. 각 악장은 전통적 형식 구조 안에서 라흐마니노프만의 독특한 음악적 색채를 담아내고 있으며, 곳곳에 20세기 적인 음악적 요소들이 종종 눈에 띄지만 전체를 지배하는 낭만적인 흐름 속에 조용히 나타날 뿐이다.

쉐드린 (Rodion Shchedrin 1932- )은 러시아 작곡가로서 현대 음악사에 있어 큰 영향을 끼치고 있다. 그의 작품은 우연성 기법(Aleatory), 점묘법(Pointillism), 음렬기법(Serial)과 같은 20세기의 초기 테크닉을 잘 나타내고 있다. 쉐드린의 작품은 여러 가지 외적인 영향을 바탕으로 3 시기로 나누어 볼 수 있는데 Basso ostinato는 제 1시기로 그의 초기작품(1950-1960)이라 할 수 있다. 이 작품은 그가 쓴 Piano pieces, Op.20의 작품 중 마지막 곡으로 가장 돋보이는 작품이라 할 수 있다. 이 곡은 A-A'-Cadenza 1-A''-Cadenza 2-A'''-Coda로 구성되어지며, 베이스선율이 그대로 반복되지 않고 각 프레이즈별로 변주되는 것이 특징이다.

Thethesis provides a research and analysis of four compositions included ina master's graduation recital program of the writer. This study focuses on building a foundation to play finely ina practical performance by interpreting and understandingthe compositions' background, featuresandcomposer's intent correctly.

Johann Sebastian Bach is a leader of the baroque era, who is rated not as a reformer but as a consummator. The representative piano suites of Bach aresix English suites, six French suites and six partitas, andall ofthose musicsarecomposed for a harpsichord. The suites are made by four movements basis includingAllemande, Curante, Sarabande and Gigue, and most of them have a dance music, such as a Minuet, a Gavotte andBourrée, which is possibleto put inbetween Sarabande and Gigue such choosingly. The English Suite No.3 is consist of six pieces, Prelude - Allemande - Curante - Sarabande - Gavotte - Gigue. This suite complies basic formation rule of the piano suite concerning the sequence of movements and the form of music, moreover, it shows a creative composition technique of Bach well.

Franz Joseph Haydn is a typical compositor of classic period, who is considered as finisher of a sonata form. Haydn's piano sonatas are divided into three periods, the early, the middle and the latter part, and these sonatas were works facing a new turn inthe scale, technique andmusical idea before and after 1767. Sonata Hob. xvi/46, three movements basis, Allegro - Adagio - Presto, is his transition period's masterpiece, which is quite different from early period sonatas in terms of musical idea and style. It is broken from the "Divertimento".

Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff's Russian cantilena are reflected by lyric melody, powerful rhythm, full chord in his piano musics. Moments Musicaux Op.16 is one of those compositions reflecting his musical style. This opus was composed in 1896 and it is organized with short six movements which are correlated each other in a key and tempo.

Rodion Shchedrin is a Russian composer having significant influence on modern music. His masterpieces shows early 20th century's techniques, such as Aleatory, Pointillism and Serial. His pieces are able to be classified into three periods based on the external effects. Basso ostinato(1950-1960) might be his early period compositions. This composition, the last piece of his Piano pieces, Op.20, is one of the most outstanding work of Shchedrin. It is characterized by continuing low note.
