조선후기 정원에서 전개된 에로티시즘 양상과 표출방식 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 조선후기 정원에서 전개된 에로티시즘 양상과 표출 방식을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구는 조선후기에 제작된 풍속화와 시문 해석을 중심으로 한다.

연구는 18, 19세기 조선후기를 시대적 배경으로 양산된 에로티시즘 회화와 관련 문헌을 중심으로 연구를 진행하였다. 내용적으로는 신윤복, 김홍도 풍속화를 비롯한 회화자료 60여점과 대표적인 문인 및 기생의 시문과 관련 사설시조, 판소리가사, 소설의 부분을 다루었다.

연구는 사료의 해석을 통한 문헌적 연구방법을 택했다. 주로 회화자료를 통해 에로티시즘이 구현되는 공간들의 구조 및 요소들 간 공통점과 차이점을 파악하였다. 이를 통해 에로티시즘 향유의 주요 유형을 밝힐 수 있었다. 시문과 관련 기록들은 이를 뒷받침하는 해석의 자료로서 활용하였다.

분석의 결과 에로티시즘의 주체로 대표적으로는 조선후기 양반과 기녀와, 그 외 다양한 처지의 남녀가 에로티시즘을 향유하였음을 알 수 있었다. 정원을 중심으로 보다 내밀한 에로티시즘이 전개됨을 알 수 있었다. 정원에서 향유된 에로티시즘의 유형으로는 계절과 관련된 유희, 달밤의 정취와 에로티시즘의 관계, 에로티시즘과 공간의 개폐성, 권력 상징공간의 에로티시즘 공간화, 식물의 함의를 통한 에로티시즘이 있었다. 정서적으로는 관능적인 나르시시즘, 구애와 유혹, 운우지정, 상실과 슬픔, 허무 등의 감정이 정원을 따라 거리는 이들 및 연인들을 통해 표출되었다.

조선후기 정원에서 에로티시즘이 향유되었다는 것을 다양한 사료를 통해 분석 · 해석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 그 시기의 정원 문화를 보다 입체적으로 이해할 수 있고, 조선후기 에로티시즘의 실체적인 공간상과 생활상을 그려 볼 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

This study aims to define the aspect of eroticism and its expressional method developed at the garden in the late Joseon Dynasty. For the research, this study target genre paintings and literary works.

The research focused on genre paintings and literary works of eroticism developed in 18c, 19c of Late Joseon Dynasty. And it followed historical method for research.

The things that this research take notice are divided two aspects. The first is the physical realization of eroticism in the garden. And the second is to explore expressional method developed at the garden.

By focusing the aspect of eroticism and its expressional method developed at the garden in the late Joseon Dynasty period, this study is enhancing the intelligibility about garden in the late Joseon Dynasty period, providing an opportunity to imagine and analyze the times and gardens in three dimensions.
