서블릭 기반의 과업 분석을 통한 가전제품 접근성 문제 도출 방법론

Abstract

기술의 혁신과 함께 가전제품의 기능은 많아지고 복잡해지는 반면 장애인들의 가전제품에 대한 접근성은 오히려 제한되고 있으며 독립적인 생활에 지장을 주고 있다. 사회 구성원의 공평함에 대한 관심과 함께 유니버설 디자인 관련 정책과 표준화가 점차 수립되고 있다. 그러나 국제 표준과 가이드라인은 특정 제품의 구체적인 사용 과정의 실질적인 접근성 문제점 인식에는 한계가 있다. 따라서 제품 개발자들은 사용자의 접근성 요구 사항을 조사하는 과정에서 일반적으로 사용자를 섭외하여 인터뷰와 같은 대면 조사를 진행한다. 하지만 장애인 참여자에 대하여 인터뷰를 진행하는 과정에서는 의사소통, 신체적 불편함 등과 같은 어려움이 발생할 수 있으므로 추가적인 시간과 비용이 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 장애인이 제약과 차별 없이 독립적으로 사용 가능한 가전제품 개발을 위하여, 이론을 근거로 사용자들의 접근성 문제를 도출하는 방법론을 제안하였다. 사용자의 가전제품 사용 과정을 분석하기 위해 서블릭을 활용한 과업 분석을 제안하여 사용 맥락을 구체화하였고, 접근성 연구에 적합하도록 서블릭을 세분화하고 재정의하였다. 그리고 비장애인 사용자의 과업 분석으로부터 장애인 사용자의 과업 분석을 도출하기 위해 장애인의 특징을 이용하여 장애 유형 별 서블릭 변화 규칙을 개발하였다. 또한 장애인이 제품 사용 과정에서 겪는 접근성 문제점을 도출하기 위해 접근성 관련 국제 표준을 참고하여 과업 수행 난이도 체크리스트를 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 방법론을 검증하기 위해 가정용 빌트인 오븐에 대한 사례 연구를 진행한 결과, 제안한 방법론을 통해 도출한 문제점은 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통하여 도출한 문제점 중 대부분의 내용을 커버할 수 있으며 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 도출한 문제점 외 기타 문제점도 도출할 수 있음을 증명하였다. 본 연구를 통해 제품 개발 또는 개선 과정에서 장애인을 대상으로 대면 조사를 진행하지 않고도 장애인의 가전제품 사용 맥락을 추측하고, 접근성 문제를 객관적으로 도출하며, 시간과 비용을 절약할 것으로 기대한다.

With the innovation of technology, the functions of household appliances become more and more complicated, while the accessibility of the household appliances for disabilities is rather limited and hinders the independent life. With the interest in the fairness of the members of society, policy and standardization related to universal design are gradually being established. However, there is a limit to the recognition of practical problems in the specific use of international standards and guidelines for specific products. Thus, developers typically invite users to do face-to-face surveys such as interviews, to investigate accessibility requirements. However, in the process of interviewing the participants with disabilities, additional difficulties such as communication and physical inconvenience may occur, resulting in additional time and costs. In this study, a methodology was proposed to investigate the accessibility problems of users based on the theory for the development of household appliances, to make users use independently and independently of constraints and discrimination. In order to analyze the usage process of appliances, therblig-implemented task analysis is proposed to specify the context of use, and some of therbligs are redefined to fit the accessibility study. In order to derive the task analysis of disabled users from task analysis of non-disabled users, developed a therblig change rule for each type of disability according to the characteristics of disabled people. In addition, task difficulty checklist was developed refer to the international standards on accessibility, to investigate accessibility problems experienced by people with disabilities in the product use. As a result of the case study on the built-in oven, the accessibility issues derived from the proposed methodology proved that most of the issues derived from the focus group interviews can be covered. Through this research, it is expected that the context of disabled peoples use of household appliances can be predicted, the accessibility issues can be objectively derived, save time and money without participating in the process of product development or improvement.
