비교의 연결어미 '-느니' 연구

Abstract

Connecting ending -nuni such as 앓느니 죽겠다(lit. It's better to be dead rather than ill) can be featured as comparative construction. This study will insist that the comparitive meaning of -nuni construction is from comparitive josa. -nuni with compartive josa -nuniboda, -nuniman resulted the meaning of -nuni. In Chapter 2, two aspecte of comparative connecting ending -nuni is discussed. First is concerned to semantic feature of -nuni. -nuni construction can be led from comparative construction. The target of comparison of the -nuni is evaluative modality of two sentences. Unlike other types of compartive construction, -nuni represent negative evalutative modality on the action of preceding sentence. Second part is for syntactic aspect of -nuni. In this part, -nuni can followed by only verbs, not adjective. Besides, -nuni has lexical restriction in both two clauses. In Chapter 3, historical advents of -nuni is the topic of chapter. First of all, in order to find origin of comparative connecting ending of -nuni, other types of -nuni is discussed. Comparative connecting ending -nuni is, however, hard to find historical advents in medieval Korean. Comparative josa construction is also discussed. In these days, -nuniboda is considered as a related form of comparitive -nuni, the difference of those two also meaningful feature of -nuni. In chapter 4, the origin of -nuni is explained by using the feature of -nuni in chapter 2 and historical advents of -nuni in chapter 3. This will be covered following hypothesis: comparative connecting ending -nuni already exists in 15th century, nomitative josa i formed comparative meaning of nuni. These two are criticized in this paper. In conclusion, comparative josa connected on -nuni formed the meaning of -nuni. Chapter 5 is conclusion and whole discussion is wrapped up. The problem left in this paper is also discussed.

앓느니 죽겠다에서 쓰인 것과 같은 연결어미 -느니는 비교 구문의 성격을 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 비교의 연결어미 -느니의 비교 구문의 의미가 -느니 형식의 어미에 조사가 결합한 구성으로부터 파생되었다고 보며 본고는 이러한 주장의 타당성을 검토하는 데에 목적이 있다. 제2장에서 비교의 연결어미 -느니의 공시적인 양상을 살펴본다. 제2장은 크게 의미적 특성과 통사적 특성을 다루는 두 개의 내용으로 나눌 수 있다. 의미적 특성은 비교의 연결어미 -느니의 의미를 비교 구문의 특성에 따라 해석하는 부분이다. 여기서 비교의 연결어미 -느니는 화자가 문장 행위의 평가 양태를 비교하는 평가 비교 구문임을 다루며, 특히 비교의 연결어미 -느니는 선행절에 부정적인 평가 양태가 포함되어 있음을 이야기할 것이다. 통사적 특성에서는 비교의 연결어미 -느니가 동사에 후행하여서만 결합할 수 있는 특성과 함께 -느니를 이루는 선후행절의 어휘적 제약에 대하여 언급할 것이다. 제3장에서는 비교의 연결어미 -느니와 더불어 -느니에 비교 조사가 결합하여 비교의 연결어미를 나타내는 -느니 비교 조사 결합 구문의 역사적 출현 양상에 대하여 다룰 것이다. 이를 위하여 -느니 형식의 어미에 관하여 잠시 살펴본 뒤 비교의 연결어미 -느니의 출현과 비교하여 볼 것이다. 비교의 연결어미 -느니는 현대 한국어에서 -느니보다와 의미상으로 크게 유사하기에 역사적인 단계에서도 -느니와 -느니보다 사이에 두드러진 차이가 나타나는지 확인한다. 제4장에서는 제2장에서 언급한 -느니의 특성과 제3장에서의 출현 양상을 통해 -느니의 기원에 대해서 설명할 것이다. 이미 15세기에 비교의 연결어미 -느니로 이어지는 -느니 단독 구성이 있었다는 가설, 주격 조사 결합형이 비교의 의미를 형성했다는 가설을 검토한 뒤 비교의 연결어미 -느니의 비교 의미는 비교 조사 결합 구성을 통해 형성되었음을 밝힐 것이다. 제5장은 결론으로 지금까지 다루었던 바를 정리하고 미처 논의하지 못한 바에 대하여 언급하며 마무리 지을 것이다.
