반품정책(returns policy)의 모형화

Abstract

최근 소매업에서 고객만족과 관련하여 반품에 따른 환불정책이 매우 중요해지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 경험재에 대해 소매상이 판매가격의 결정뿐만이 아니라 반품 시 환불해줄 금액에 대한 의사 결정을 해야 하는 경우 이를 모형화하고자 한다. 구매자의 입장에서는 환불 금액이 높을 경우 구매 시 위험이 낮아지므로 구매의사결정을 보다 기꺼이 할 것이다. 반면에 환불이 많이 안 되는 경우 보다 신중하게 구매의사결정을 할 것이다. 구매 후 파악하게 된 제품의 가치가 낮은 경우라 하더라도 환불 금액이 적은 경우에는 구매자가 불가피하게 보유를 하는 것이 유리할 수 있다. 이 경우 음의 소비자 잉여가 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 특성을 고려한 소매상의 최적화 모형을 구성해본다.

Returns policy is considered to be very important with respect to customer satisfaction. In this paper, a retailer, which sells an experience goods, should decide its retail price and the refund policy. When a retailer offers a lenient refund policy, potential customers would willingly purchase the goods. This is because they can return the goods when they find out the values are below their expense. When a retailer takes the policy of refunding only a small amount of the purchase price, consumers tend to be more deliberate in their purchase decisions. In this case, once a consumer purchase a product and find its value is low, he had better keep it since he cannot retrieve much from returning it.
