Analysis of South Korea's Direct Investment in Shandong Province of China

Abstract

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, the two countries have maintained close economic cooperation and became important trading partners. China has become Korea's largest investment market, the best investment target and the first-ranked investment destination. Shandong Province, with its irreplaceable geographical location, cultural commonality, market size and economic advantages, has always been an important investment province of South Korea in China. No matter from the aspects of the number of companies or the size of funds, South Korea has always been at the forefront of foreign investment in Shandong Province, as well as an important force that cannot be ignored in the process of promoting Shandong's economic development. The investment of Korean companies in Shandong Province is more independent, and the industry sectors they have invested in have experienced considerable changes in the past 30 years. While Korean business capital is infiltrating Shandong Province, it will inevitably have a profound impact on bilateral trade, local employment, and industrial structure. Admittedly, in the nearly 30 years of exploration, Korean enterprises have also encountered a variety of local problems. In the future, under the situation of the rise of unilateralism and the friction of state relations, it is the main topic of this paper to discuss the direction of investment of Korean enterprises in the future and how to help Korean enterprises better and more efficiently invest in Shandong Province and even in China.

한중 수교 이래 양국의 경제 무역 협력은 매우 밀접해 왔으며, 이것은 앞으로 서로 떼려야 떼어낼 수 없는 가장 중요하고 핵심적인 무역 파트너가 된 계기가 되었다. 중국은 한국 최대의 대외투자시장이 됐을 뿐만 아니라, 최고의 투자목적지로도 한동안 일컬어져 왔다. 특히 중국의 산동성은 다른 지역에 비해 지리적위치 우세를 갖고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 한국과의 문화유사성과 우수한 시장 규모를 갖고 있어 줄곧 한국의 중요한 대중 투자 목적지이었다. 반면에 한국은 산동성에서 최대 외자유치국이 되었으며, 한국으로부터 온 자본은 산동의 산업구조에 막대한 영향을 끼쳤을 정도로 산동성의 경제발전 성과중 에서 빼놓고 논할 수 없는 동력이자 동반자가 되었다. 산둥성에서의 한국 기업이 선호하는 투자 영역은 비교적 뚜렷하였으나, 지난 30 년간 적지 않은 변화를 겪었다. 물론 이 30 년간 한국 기업들은 적지않은 곤란과 문제를 겪기도 하였다. 현재 한중 양국의 사드문제가 발생하는 등 서로의 관계가 마찰을 빚으면서 불확실한 상황이 지속되는 가운데, 본 논문은 앞으로 한국 기업과 산동성 뿐만 아니라 중국 전역과 경제적인 융합을 위한 방안을 모색하고, 한국 기업이 어떻게 하면 중국에서 더 효율적인 투자를 할 수 있는지에 대해 다뤄보고자 한다.
