- Abstract
- Korean is said to have some defective verbs/adjectives, but the full list has not been presented. Unabridged Korean dictionaries can help make the full list of defective verbs/adjectives. Standard Korean Language Dictionary (2008) gives the constraints on the conjugation of a defective verb/adjective in a fixed form, i.e. used in the form of .... So we can find all of the defective verbs/adjectives in the web-based dictionary by searching for entries with kkol form in their grammatical information. The search results are 145 entries. We recognized a defective verb/adjective if it has two or more but not many conjugational forms. The final list of defective verbs/adjectives consists of 88 words. But it is to be improved since it is not always clear which conjugational forms a verb/adjective can have.
