A Critical Assessment of the Performance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training and its Impact on Employment in Tanzania Zanzibar

Abstract

The objective of the research is to assess the performance of technical and vocational education and training in Zanzibar and its impact on employment creation.to achieve this objective the study utilized both qualitative and quantitative data that was analyzed using Microsoft Excel software, on top of that both questionnaires and interview research instruments were used to collect primary information from the respondents. The study result shows that Technical and Vocational Education and Training are potential gateways for job creation among youth in Zanzibar since the findings show that 69 percent of them joined Technical and Vocational Education and Training to increase skills and knowledge for employment purposes, while the other 25 percent joined TVET to prepare themselves for being self-employed. In this survey, it is recommended that the Government should create an enabling environment for TVET and skills development by providing a clear policy framework and supporting actions to improve the quality and relevance of TVET.

연구의 목적은 잔지바(Zanzibar)에서 기술및 직업교육 그리고 훈련의 실행과 고용창출에 미치는 영향을 평가하는 것입니다. 이 목적을 달성하기위해 연구는 마이크로 엑셀 소프트웨어를 사용하여 분석된 질적 양적인 데이타를 활용했스며, 무엇보다도 응답자로부터 기본 정보를 수집하기위해 설문지와 면접 조사 도구를 모두 사용했습니다. 연구 결과는 기술및 직업 교육 그리고 훈련이 잔지바(Zanzibar)에서 청년 일자리 창출을 위한 잠재적인 관문이라는 것을 보여줍니다. 조사 결과에 따르면 이들중 69%는 교육목적을 위한 기술 및 직업 교육 그리고 훈련에 참여하여 기능 수련과 지식 향상시켰스며 다른 25% 청년들은 자영업을 준비하기위해 TVET 에 가입하였습니다. 본 설문 조사에서 정부는 명확한 정책 제도(Framework)을 제공하고 TVET 효휼과 관련성을 개선하기위한 조치를 지원함으로써 TVET 및 기술 개발을 활성화할 환경을 조성할것을 제의합니다(조성해야합니다).
