배경음악과 접촉 빈도에 따른 사회지각

Abstract

Senses such as vision and hearing have impact on each other. When a person observe the same visual stimuli, the perception and judgment about that stimuli differs when provided with different auditory element. There are a lot of evidences that vision and hearing influence each other. However, it is difficult to control auditory stimuli in an objective way. There are some studies that showed the type of background music influences the perception of the visual stimuli. However, not many studies controlled music in an objective way. The goal of this study is to find out if event perception changes depending on the key of the background music and the frequency of contact of the geometric figures. Music with major key tends to be perceived as positive mood, and music with minor key tends to be perceived as negative mood. I hypothesized that people who watched the video with major key music tend to assess the relationship of the geometric figures more positively, than people who watched the video with minor key music. In the experiment 1, each participant watched a video out of two kinds of video that differed the frequency of contact. After watching the video, the participants assessed the personality of each geometric figures, and the event that occurred in the video. In experiment 2, participants watched the same video and focused on the assessment of the geometric figures relationship. In experiment 2, I have attempted to adjust the questionnaire so that it could fit to the data set. According to the results, the group who watched the video with major key music assessed the event more positively than the group who watched the video with minor key music. Most of the participants anthropomorphize geometric figures when they perceive event, like previous researches, In this study, I tried to control the auditory stimuli by using the same melody, but only changing the key. Also, I used the text mining technique so that the assessment on the linguistic responses could be objective.

시각과 청각 등 감각은 서로 영향을 준다. 동일한 자극을 관찰하더라도 청각적 요소가 달라지면 자극에 대한 지각과 판단도 달라진다. 시청각이 서로 영향을 준다는 증거는 많지만, 청각 자극의 경우 객관적으로 통제하기 어렵다. 기존의 연구에서 배경음악에 따라 시각 자극에 대한 지각이 달라졌다는 결과를 도출한 바 있지만, 음악을 객관적으로 통제하지 않았다. 본 연구의 목적은 배경음악의 조성과 도형의 접촉 빈도에 따라 사건 지각이 달라지는지 알아보기 위한 것이다. 밝은 분위기의 장조 음악은 긍정적인 정서로, 어두운 분위기의 단조 음악은 부정적 정서로 평가될 가능성이 높다. 실험 1에서는 접촉 빈도를 달리한 두 도형의 영상이 제시되었고, 참가자는 도형의 성격과, 영상에서 일어난 사건에 대해 평가하였다. 실험 2에서는 머신 러닝에 사용하는 데이터 세트에 보다 적합하게 서술형 문항을 수정하였다. 영상에서 일어난 객관적 사건이 아닌, 영상을 보고 난 본인의 느낌을 서술하도록 하였다. 실험 결과 장조 음악이 영상과 함께 제시된 경우, 단조 음악 조건에 비해 긍정적인 평가가 내려졌다. 참가자들은 대부분 도형을 의인화하여 사건을 지각하였으며, 이는 기존 연구의 결과와 일치한다. 본 실험에서는 음악이라는 청각적 자극을 사용할 때, 동일한 멜로디에서 조성만 바꾸어 객관적으로 통제하였다. 또한, 참가자들이 기술한 언어적 응답을 텍스트 분석 기법을 사용하여 긍정적인 평가인지, 부정적인 평가인지 평정하였다. 본 연구에서는 기계학습을 통해 객관적으로 텍스트 분석을 실시하고자 하였다. 또한 텍스트 분석이 심리학 실험에 실질적으로 활용될 수 있을지 검토하고자 실제 사람의 평가와 비교하였다.
