dc.description.abstract | In the discussion of this paper, Northwest or Gwanseo is not a single category in
terms of identity and solidarity, so before discussing the internal discourse of Pyeongan-do, the work of understanding from the perspective of the region as a unit is the first step. I also stated that the more the situation changes depending on the time, the more such internal perceptions change with the times. In this paper, I confirmed the changes of the times from the 16th century to the 20th century in order to confirm such internal perceptions at the regional level, while being aware of the Pyongyang discrimination discourse that has been raised so far. Discussions were conducted on gazetteers of Pyongyang for convenience. For this reason, I first focused on the aspect that shows the variation between Pyeongan-do. Looking at the changes in the times that appeared in the five gazetteers of Pyongyang, the collective memory of Pyongyangites shows two major directions. One is that as time goes by, they have a closer relationship with the people in seoul. Pyongyangitess collective memory, which began to appear in gazetteers in 1730, appeared in the awareness of the problem of being separated from the central power, as in the Soseyang anecdote. But a close affinity with the center is strongly expressed as time goes on, such as the relationship, the increase in the number of Provincial Examination, and the conversion to central government office. Second, since Yundusu highlighted the existence of Gija in Pyongyang, Gija became a symbol of civilization and have reborn the image of the city of Pyongyang. In the process of expanding Gija and related facilities, promoting Gijas tomb to a Gija's royal tomb, and starting construction of Punggyoung palace in the outer castle in the early 20th century, Pyongyang was recognized as a different image from the rest in Pyeongan-do. From this perspective, Pyongyangitess collective memory is different from that of Pyeongan-do discrimination. | - |
