- Abstract
- Micro-alloyed Mg-Al-Ca alloys were designed, using thermodynamic calculations, in terms of formation of precipitates during hot deformation. Hot compression tests were carried out at temperature of 350°C, 400°C and 450°C at a strain rate of 0.01s-1. The microstructure, including precipitation and dynamic recrystallization, was characterized by SEM with BSE and EDS detectors and optical microscopy. The macro-texture was analysed by XRD. Effect of precipitation on dynamic recrystallization and texture was studied. It was shown that fine precipitates might suppress dynamic recrystallization and prevent grain growth, but did not have great effect on modification of texture. The texture was found randomized with increasing temperature. Copyright © 2013 MS&T'13®.
