Abstract
The oxidation behavior of high strength steel prior to galvanizing process has been issued to produce sound galvanizing coating. In the present study, kinetic oxidation codes were developed based on one dimensional finite difference method (FDM) in conjunction with thermodynamic calculations using the FactSage thermodynamic databases. Complex oxidation behavior of high strength steels was calculated depending on process parameters such as steel composition, dew-point control, and thermal history. The simulation results are in good agreement with available experimental data. In addition, the kinetic model was expanded to two dimension code to consider the grain boundary oxidation.
