Hybrid inverted polymer light-emitting diodes with very high efficiencies have been realized by using a thick emitting layer. The findings described in this Higlight indicate that broadening of the exciton density profiles and redistribution of the electric field near the charge injection contacts in the devices is crucial for high efficiency. © 2010 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
