해방기 김기림의 공동체 의식과 신질서 수립을 위한 구상의 의의 및 한계

Abstract

해방기 김기림의 시와 산문에서 특징적인 점은 공동체 의식을 유달리 강조하고 있다는점이다. 이러한 특징은 역사의 흐름에 대한 그 자신의 신념 또는 열망과 관련된 것이다. 즉, 제2차 세계대전의 종전과 더불어 근대적 모순을 극복한 새로운 시대가 열릴 것이며, 이 경우개인의 이익, 민족의 이익만을 앞세운 근대적 논리의 한계는 반드시 극복되어야 한다는 것이그의 입장이었다. 그런 시각에서, 그는 약자에 대한 지배와 착취는 사라져야 하며, 이러한 태도는 민족 내부에서, 그리고 전 지구적인 차원에서 공동체적인 의식의 확산과 더불어 현실화될 수 있으리라고 보았다. 또한 그는 도래할 이러한 세계에는 경제력이나 군사력과 같은 힘의논리 대신 문화적 교섭과 이해를 위한 다양한 형태의 공동의 노력이 존중될 것으로 전망했다. 이 과정에서 그는 또한 미국의 정치인 웬델 윌키의 저서인 ?하나의 세계?에 적지 않은 감명을받은 흔적이 드러난다. 그는 자신의 이러한 구상을 「세계에 웨치노라」와 「새해의 노래」, 「시와 문화에 부치는 노래」 등의 시편들을 비롯한 몇몇 산문에서 구체적으로 드러내놓았다. 궁극적으로 그가 지향했던 세계는 모든 민족 내부의, 민족들 간의 근대적 모순들이 사라진 공동체적인 이상 세계였다고 하겠다.

The characteristic of Kim Ki Rims poetry and prose during the Liberation Period is an emphasis on the community. This characteristic relates to Kim Ki Rims belief or hope for the flow of history. Hence he contended that with the end of the World War II, a new period that overcomes modern contradiction will begin; it would overcome the limitation of modern logic that gives priority to the benefit of individuals and national group. From such perspective, he perceived that the oppression and exploitation of underprivileged must end, expecting the change to be manifested with the spread of consciousness of community both nationally and globally. Additionally, he prospected that the new world will better respect the collective efforts for cultural negotiation and understanding, over the current logic of economic and armament power. In this process, he also seems to have been influenced by American politician Wendell Willkies One World. Specifically, he reveals such thoughts in his poetry and prose such as Cry to the World, New Year Song, and Song for Poetry and Culture. In conclusion, he ultimately aimed for the ideal world of collectives, in which all the contradiction within and among national groups disappeared.
