국내 간호대학생의 국제보건역량 및 교육요구 분석

Abstract

전염성 질환의 유행이나 의료인의 국제적 활동과 같은 보건의료 분야의 세계화는 임상 현장뿐 아니라 교육 현장에도 영향을 미쳤다. 간호대학생은 국제사회에서 건강증진과 건강형평성 강화를 위한 활동을 수행할 수 있는 예비 보건의료인이지만, 간호대학생 국제보건역량 등의 실태와 성인학습자로서 간호대학생이 기대하는 국제보건교육을 연속적인 시선으로 살펴본 연구는 찾아보기 힘들다. 이에 본 연구는 간호대학생의 국제보건역량을 평가하고, 국제보건교육의 필요성과 형태 등 교육요구도를 확인하였다. 먼저 2020년 5월부터 8월까지 전국의 간호대학생 208명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하여 다중 선형 회귀분석을 수행하였다. 이후 설문조사 참여자 중 12명을 대상으로 3개 그룹으로 나누어 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료는 내용분석 방법으로 분석하였다. 조사 결과, 간호대학생의 국제보건역량 평균 점수는 4.0점 만점에 2.8±0.7점으로 나타났다. 여성, 더 높은 학업 성취도, 매우 유창한 영어, 더 많은 횟수의 국제보건교육 경험은 국제보건역량에 상당한 영향을 미쳤다. 이 중 가장 영향력 있는 요인은 연구대상자가 경험한 국제보건교육 횟수로 나타났다. 연구에 참여한 간호대학생 208명 중 202명이 국제보건교육이 필요하다고 답하였다. 그 중 94.2%인 196명이 국제보건교육을 받겠다고 응답하였으며, 2회 이상의 세미나 형태를 가장 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 교육요구도에 대해 자세히 살펴본 결과, 간호대학생은 그 동안 국제보건교육 기회가 부족하다고 느껴왔다. 그럼에도 국제보건에 대한 관심은 높았는데, 이러한 데에는 이전의 국제보건교육, 다문화 경험, 미디어를 통한 정보 획득 등이 영향을 미쳤다. 간호대학생들은 국제보건교육에 실습과 수준별 교육이 필요하다고 강조하였다. 또 임상에서 적용할 수 있는 교육주제에 가장 큰 관심을 가졌다. 사회적, 정치적 변화 속에서 간호대학은 교육을 통해 국제보건역량을 갖춘 간호인력을 배출할 의무가 있다. 본 연구는 성인학습자의 특성을 고려하여 간호대학생의 국제보건교육요구와 현재 역량을 기반으로 학습자 관점에서 국제보건교육의 방향성을 제시했다는 데에 의의가 있다.

The globalization of health care, such as epidemics and international activities of medical personnel, has affected not only the clinical field but also the educational field. Nursing students are preliminary healthcare professionals who can practice nursing to promote health and strengthen health equity throughout the world. However, too little studies on global health education have been conducted that nursing students expect to learn as adult learners. Therefore, this study aims to understand the global health competency of nursing students. Additionally, with focus group interviews, this paper examines the need for global health education of nursing students. From May to August 2020, 208 nursing students participated in the online survey for multiple linear regression analysis. Finally, focus group interviews were conducted with 12 interviewees divided into three groups, and data collected were analyzed by the content analysis method. As a result, the average score of global health competency of nursing students was 2.8 out of 4.0 with a margin of ±0.7. Being a woman and very fluent in English, and having higher level of academic achievement and more experience in global health education seemed to affect their global health competency significantly. The most influential factor was the number of global health education experienced by the nursing students. The educational needs of nursing college students were shown, and 202 out of 208 study participants answered that global health education was necessary. Among the 202, 196 participants (94.2%) said they would receive global health education, and two or more seminars were the most preferred. As a result of examining the educational needs in detail through focus group interviews, nursing students have expressed that global health education opportunities are insufficient. Nevertheless, they showed a lot of interest in global health, and this is due to their previous global health education, multicultural experience, and information acquired from the media. Nursing students emphasized the need for practical training and differentiated instruction in global health education. In addition, nursing students had the greatest interest in educational topics applicable to clinical practice. To sum up, in the midst of social and political changes, nursing colleges have the obligation to nurture competent nursing personnel through global health education. This study is meaningful in that it proposes a direction of global health education from a learner's perspective based on the educational needs and global health competency of nursing students considering the characteristics of adult learners.
