G. Fauré의 가곡 중 네 곡(Op.4 No.2, Op.23 No.2, Op.27 No.1, Op.58 No.2)과 A. Copland의 Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson 중 네 개의 가곡(No. 2, No.3, No.5, No.11)에 대한 분석연구

Abstract

본 논문은 필자의 석사과정 졸업연주 프로그램 중 가브리엘 포레(Gabriel Fauré, 1845-1924)의 초기, 중기가곡 중에서 연주한 4곡과 아론 코플랜드(Aaron Copland, 1900-1990)의 가곡집 <에밀리 디킨슨의 12개의 시에 의한 가곡(Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson)>중 4곡에 대한 연구이다. 위에서 언급한 두 명의 작곡가는 각각 후기 낭만시대 이후의 프랑스와 미국 가곡의 발전을 이끌었으며, 시어와 음악의 관계성을 더욱 긴밀하게 표현하였다는 공통의 특징을 가지고 있다. 포레의 가곡은 프랑스 예술가곡을 일컫는 멜로디(Mélodies)의 발전에 직접적인 영향을 주었다. 그의 초기와 중기가곡의 특징을 자세히 분석하였고, 포레의 가곡과 멜로디의 특징을 연관하여 서술하였다. 코플랜드는 자국의 색채를 담은 음악을 작곡하기 위해 평생에 걸쳐 고민했던 작곡가이다. 그는 그의 가곡에서 모국어인 영어의 어감을 살려 가사와 내용에 집중할 수 있도록 음악적 장치를 곳곳에 배치하여 작곡하였는데, 이와 같은 특징을 그의 가곡집<Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson>에서 찾아 자세히 분석하였다. 필자는 작곡가의 생애 및 음악적 특징을 살펴보았고, 작곡가의 의도하는 바를 성악가의 입장에서 인지한 후 연주할 수 있도록 곡의 형식, 가사, 음악적 특징을 자세히 연구하였다.

This is a study of four songs by Gabriel Fauré(1845-1924) and four songs by <Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson> by Aaron Copland (1900-1990). These two composers worked up the development of French and American art songs and had a common characteristic of trying to express the relationship between poetry and music more closely. Fauré, a french composer, is an important meaning in the development of Mélodies. The characteristics of his early and mid-term songs were analyzed in detail. That characteristic is connected characteristic of Mélodies. Copland is a composer who has been agonizing over his entire life to compose music that contains his nations colors. His collection of songs, <Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson> also shows its characteristics. He composed music by placing musical devices everywhere to focus on the content of the lyrics by making good use of the nuance of his native English. In this study, I examined the background of the songs and the life of the composer, and the musical characteristics of him. In addition, as a singer, I analyzed the form and musical characteristics of the song and interpreted the poetic language in detail so that the composer's intention could be recognized and played.
