원행을묘정리의궤 봉수당진찬에 관한 기록학적 고찰

Abstract

의궤는 오례의의 내용을 참고하여 작성된 일회성 의주로서 기능했으나, 시간이 흘러 그 오례의라는 전례서의 사례집으로써 기능하게 되면서 오례의와 비슷한 위상을 갖게 되기도 한다. 또한 등록과의 비교를 통해서 등록과 유사하게 공문서 모음집으로서의 성격을 알 수 있으나 의궤청 설치 여부가 의궤와 등록의 결정적인 차이점이 되어, 이와 대비되는 의궤의 위상 또한 확인할 수 있다. 원행을묘정리의궤는 정조 19년(1795) 화성으로의 원행을 마치고 정리의궤청을 설치해 제작된 의궤로써, 통상의 의궤들이 1방, 2방 등 분방시스템을 갖추고 행사를 준비한 뒤 이를 바탕으로 만들어지는 것과 달리 6명의 정리사가 정리소 하에서 업무를 진행한 다음, 정리의궤청 하에서 문서들을 모아 편찬해낸 것이 특징이라고 할 수 있다. 특히 원행을묘정리의궤는 의궤 최초로 활자본으로 편찬이 되어 분상용이 아니라 배포용으로 다루어졌다. 예조의 관리들이 보는 용이 아닌 홍보용으로써 독자들이 보는 입장에서 쓰여 졌기 때문에 기록체제가 정연한 것 또한 특징이다. 원행을묘정리의궤는 봉수당진찬이라는 진찬이 중심이 된, 축제를 다룬 의궤로서 이 원행을묘정리의궤를 기점으로 진찬의궤들에는 악장, 치사, 전문이 추가된다. 원행을묘정리의궤에 기록된 봉수당진찬은 정조가 화성으로 원행을 갔을 때 화성 봉수당에서 어머니 혜경궁 홍씨를 위해 회갑연을 열어준 것을 말한다. 이 봉수당진찬에 대한 기록을 통해서 진찬이 어떻게 행해졌는지를 분석할 수 있다. 속오례의의 규준과 비교해 절을 몇 번 받았는지, 작은 몇 례가 행해졌는지, 내외빈의 수, 정재의 가짓수 등등 권위를 파악할 수 있는 행례들을 통해 왕실의 규율과 혜경궁 홍씨의 위상을 알 수 있다. 또한 봉수당진찬의 반차도와 도식을 분석해서 정조의 행사에 대한 집념과 도식의 규준들을 확인할 수 있다. 원행을묘정리의궤 봉수당진찬 의주는 후에 고종의 진찬연회에서도 그대로 재현되는 등 왕실 전례서로써 기능하면서 규준으로써의 역할을 하게 된다. 또한 기록 그 자체가 앞서 언급했듯 배포용으로 만들어지면서 정연한 기록체계를 띠게 되어 기록학적 가치를 획득하게 된다. 마지막으로 진찬 행사를 통해 혜경궁 홍씨의 정치적 위상을 높여주려는 정치적 의도가 포함되어 있어 역사적인 맥락에서 의미를 획득하게 된다. 이는 역사적 가치를 갖게 된다고 할 수 있을 것이다.

However, as time passed, it evolved into a comprehensive record of precedents, resembling the characteristics of the 오례의(Records of Precedents). It can also be compared to 등록 and shares similarities as a compilation of official documents. As it was created for distribution purposes, it follows a well-organized record-keeping system, adding scholarly value as a historical document. Finally, the political intention to elevate Queen Hyegyeonggung Hong's political status through the jinchan ceremony adds historical context and significance. This contributes to the historical value of the Record of the Royal Visit to Hwasung.
