Herein, we present the iron-catalyzed oxidative cyclizationofalcohol/methyl arene with 2-amino styrene to synthesize polysubstitutedquinoline. Low-oxidation level substrates such as alcohols and methylarenes are converted to aldehydes in the presence of an iron catalystand di-t-butyl peroxide. Then, the quinoline scaffoldis synthesized through imine condensation/radical cyclization/oxidativearomatization. Our protocol showed a broad substrate scope, and variousfunctionalization and fluorescence applications of quinoline productsdemonstrated its synthetic ability.-
