Abstract
Laser ranging for various applications, such as architecture, geodesy and a position finding,
usually use pulsed laser ray and reflecting plane. This principle is originated from RADAR technique,
which calculates distance by measuring time delay between original laser pulses and reflected. If one
uses this method for wireless sensor network, then he or she needs extra circuits, which may be complex
and expensive. To solve this problem, this paper provides new ranging method which utilizes simple laser
diode and bottom-plate-actuating corner cube retro-reflector structure for ranging. And simulation result
shows that proposed method can be useful for laser ranging in wireless sensor network with optical
channel and make laser ranging device be simple.
