This paper aims at examining the grammatical properties of some
adjectives that represent be many or be much such as hada(하다),
manhʌda(만다).
Chapter 2 discusses the morphological properties. Through the
conjugation of hada, manhada, the usage of them is examined. There
are some forms that 'ha-' and the prefinal ending '-na-'(--) are combined.
Some of them use as verbs. But the other use as adjectives. Even though
both hada, manhʌda, the conjugation is quite different. In addition, the
words which were formed based on the radical ha- and manhʌ- are
discussed.
Chapter 3 deals with the syntactic properties. The constructions of
hada, manhʌda' have not been investigated until they are considered to
be the same as the existential adjectives such as itda, eopda. Based on
the Chapter 2 which critically dealt with this problem, I try to clarify
whether the hada, manhʌda' which represent both degree of quantity
and existence of object, are considered to be the same as the existential
ones. I also make comparison with other adjectival constructions. Chapter 4 summarizes all the discussions and brings up some future
tasks.
