Abstract
European banking and financial system has experienced a rapid pace of innovation, grow and structural change over the last ten years.

With the changing financial environment, german, swiss and UK banking systems are also altering a rapid pace. This changes are not uniform but there are often important common elements. The structuctures of these financial and banking systems are now in a fundamental process of realignment and adaptation.

Within this process there are increasing pressures for financial institution to be proactive rather than merely reactive to change.

This study finds that german and swiss banking systems are characterized by the federalism and decentralization. UK banking and financial system is more open, concentered in London and high-developed in various markets. UK banking and financial development contribute to the consolidation of the real economic. In the recent, London financial market is faced with the competitive challange from Zurich, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Singapore and Honkong.
