dc.description.abstract | Chronic prostatitis is a stubborn, annoying and yet
relapsing disease, and ordinary treatment often fails in most cases. A new classification of chronic prostatitis according to the endoscopic finding of the bladder neck was proposed as follows: Group 1 : normal bladder neck, 30 cases(20.0%) Group 2 : hyperemic irregularities or diffuse swelling, 44 cases(29.3%) Group 3: fibrous contracture or reversed-V, 76 cases (50.6%) Endoscopic examination is an essential procedure in management of chronic prostatitis. The bladder neck lesion in the group 3 seems irreversible and chronic prostatitis with fibrous contracture or reversed-V of the bladder neck may require electroresection of the neck or urethral dilatation in addition to the conventional treatment to achieve clinical improvement or cure. | - |
