dc.description.abstractThis paper aims to study the relation of the modernity with self-identity in Korean modem poetry. Gnnerally the modernity was regarded as the negative, lightness, simple thecnics, or the imitation of Europen poetry. But this thesis have no regard for this point of view. While this thesis pay attention to the orientation of modernity. It had affected on process of formation of self-identity in Korean modern poetry. In 1920s poets accepted Symbolism. Romanticism. They recgonized the modem aesthetics and I-recognition through that modernity, In 1930s poets worked hard language problem. They understood the value of langue. specially the native language. They usually used a dialect(방언) against the normal language. The dialect as a kind of cultural goods was a great contribution to the formation of the racil spirit. In 1950's the heart of the poetic problem is to the relation of modernity with racial identity. 1950's poets raised critic subject, subjectivity, which meant self-examination of the modernity. This diverse faces of modernity had formed the history of modernity in Korean modem poetry. And we named it the genealogy of modernity. According to this point of view, the modernity of Korean modern poetry had not been the negative, imitation of European poetry simply. But it worked as a minor of the self-identity formation in each times each poets.-
