조선후기 開城府 일대 關防體制의 정비와 財政의 추이

Abstract

This articles aims to examine processes of reorganizing the Defense System in Gaeseong(開城) and its neighborhood in addition to its financial affairs. As a transport center from Northern Broad to Seoul, Gaeseong was a places of military importance with a mountainous area to the north of Gaeseong favorable to military defence. After the Byeongja war, the Gaeseong defense system had to be fundamentaly improved. First of all, Daeheung Mountain Fortress(大興山城) was builded during the early Reign of King Sukjong and Baekchi Fortress(白峙鎭) was founded to the adjacent area. As a part of the Capital Defense System, the reorganization of the defense system in the whole area of Gaeseong was made at the early reign of King Yeongjo. Therefore Yeoheon Fortress(礪峴鎭) was founded and military force of Gaeseong were reinforced. The territory and financial affairs of Gaeseong were expanded as well. As Defense Plans of the communi-cations zone, the defensive installations at the Imjin River were established moreover. However because of a threat from Sea Power in the early days of the 19th century, the emphasis of Gaeseong Defense was gradually shifted to Yeseong River.
