19세기 博物學的 趣向과 繪畵의 새로운 경향

Abstract

In this study, I focused on the mood of Bakhak(博學: learning in various fields) and the encyclopedic taste that emerged as new paradigm in the 18th and 19th centuries to investigate how the trend of painting in the 19th century changed. The intellectuals in that age created a new culture of reading with the books overflowing thanks to prevalence of publication culture, and the new trend based knowledge read by them changed the knowledge pattern and life style, so 1hat such change of recognition helped creating new books based on collection & arrangement of objects also in the trend of art enjoyed by them. On this stream, a group of paintings newly emerging in the 19th century was also based on the line as the books were, which consisted of collection & arrangement of objects. This line is seen fully on the sorts of Moonbangchaekgado(文房冊架圖: painting of bookshelf) that show collection of the things for Moonbangcheongwanpoom(文房淸玩品) or on the encyclopedic paintings such as Baeknapdo(百衲圖) or Baekseondo(百扇圖) that show collection of various images about a specific object or theme. These new trend based paintings are understood as creations that show same cultural contents, which are encyclopedic interest, collection trend and combined composition shown on the encyclopedic books in the literature field, and they can be sorted as the panting image that is based on the 18th/19th century style knowledge pattern.
