조선중기 사회의 여성인식

Abstract

Through the Chosun Dynasty the Confucian understanding of women continued, and yet each period showed its own particularity within the limits of the universality of Confucianism. This paper aims to explore the cultural-political meaning of understanding of women in the middle period of Chosun Dynasty, focusing on the conception of chastity. I revealed that the two factors played the major role of reconstructing the conception of chastity. The one is Confucian stress on the integrity and fidelity in the middle period of the Chosun Dynasty, The other is the occurrence of Korean-Japanese war(Imjin waeran) and Korean-Chinese war(Byeongja horan).
