한국철학계의 동향과 특성

Abstract

이 논문의 목적은 한국철학계의 동향과 특성을 파악하고, 이를 바탕으로 현대 한국철학 연구의 바람직한 방향을 모색하려는데 있다. 그 내용은 (1) 논쟁 학설들의 내용, (2) 논쟁 학설들의 문제점, (3) 한국철학계 의 특성 및 (4) 대안 제시다. 이를 위해 이 논문에서는 20세기 이전까지 한국 역사상 전개된 대표적 논쟁 학설들인 사단칠정 논쟁, 인물성 동이 논 쟁, 이종선 삼종선 논쟁, 돈점 논쟁에서 나타난 문제점이 분석되었으며, 그 결과 비 일상용어의 사용, 형이상학적 논의 중심, 학문적 편향성, 학문 상 호간 대화 부재, 몰 역사성 및 맹목적 전통 존중 등이 문제점으로 나타났 다. 이러한 문제점들은 국내의 동양철학계와 서양철학계를 포함한 현대 한 국철학계의 특성으로 이어지고 있었다. 결론적으로, 한국철학계의 바람직한 미래를 위해서는 살아있는 일상 언어로 철학하기, 학문적 지평 확대, 대외 종속성 탈피, 철학사상의 역사적 배경 검토 및 맹목적 전통 존중 태도 불 식의 과제들이 현실화될 필요가 있으며, 이를 위해 요구되는 일차적 요소 는 주체적으로 학문을 할 수 있는 용기와 그 실천으로 간주된다. The purpose of this paper is twofold: an examination of the trends in and characteristics of Korean philosophical circles; and a search for the prospective future of research on Korean philosophy. To this end, this research examined the following issues: discourses on philosophical ideas in pre-modern Korea, which include discussion of the four virtues and seven feelings, the similarities and differences in the nature of human beings and things, the types of meditative practice, and sudden and gradual enlightenment; the limitations of such discourses; the characteristics of the philosophical circles in contemporary Korea; and prospective ideas for the future of research on Korean philosophy. As a result, the use of non-everyday language, a focus on metaphysical concepts, unbalanced research on philosophical ideas, a lack of interdisciplinary discourses, the neglect of historicity, and a blind respect for tradition emerged as pending problems found in the philosophical circles in traditional Korea. These problems still linger in the field of philosophy in contemporary Korea, and the prospective future of Korean philosophical circles will depend on overcoming these points at issue.
