Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to debate the policy alternatives and

limits of Latin American sustainable development. Latin American countries

have changed their developmental strategies from import substitution

industrialization and neoliberal globalisation to sustainable development. With

the discussion of Green Industrial Revolution and Ecological Social

Revolution, ensuing policy alternatives such as environmental protection,

ecological land use planning, eco-tourism, establishment of ecological corridor,

green employment, biodiversity, new recycling energy, and ecological debt

program are discussed in detail. This paper deals with the harmony of

economic growth and environmental protection, the need of political regime

change, and the cost transfer of environmental protection from forerunners to

late-comers as the limitations of Latin American sustainable development. In the

last chapter, this paper adds the possibility of Latin American-Korean

cooperation through various ways such as ODA. Especially, the Korean model

of land reform, strong educational drive, and the formation of reformative ruling

coalition is emphasized as the same effective ways for Latin America.
