Abstract
Sensor node localization is an essential process before communication in randomly
distributed optical wireless sensor network. In this paper, we analyzed problems which can be
occurred in optical wireless sensor node localization method using a time of flight. And to
overcome the problems this paper suggests a new scheme based on optical signal using image
information. The base station of sensor node localization scheme consists of a laser and camera.
Principle of this scheme is that laser beam, reflected from sensor node reflector, comes back into
camera of the base station and then sensor node is localized by using geometric configuration of
the base station and pixel location of the laser beam on image. Experiment on micro sensor node
localization is performed. As a result of experiment, it is confirmed that this scheme can be
applicable to wireless optical sensor network.
