Abstract
Russell famously attacked the law of causality and the concept of causation as a relic of a bygone age that hinders the proper
understanding of the world. His primary target is the law of causality that is the principle that for every actual event e, there are a finite number of quite localized actual events that determine the event e. He claimed that this law has no chance of being correct in fundamental physics and therefore the concept of causation should be eliminated. However, Cartwright criticized Russells claim, arguing that the concept of causation cannot be eliminated because it is needed to ground the distinction between effective strategies and ineffective ones. I will sketch an account of causation that does
not rely on the determination of the relation between localized events and yet is adequate to the tasks for a concept of causation, such as grounding the distinction between effective and ineffective strategies. In conclusion, I deny causal foundationalism that is the position that causation will be ultimately justified by fundamental physics. I claim that causation is a construction of human perspective and physical facts.
