Abstract
This paper describes a conceptual design of multiple base station for optics-based sensor node
localization system. The base station is capable of positioning the sensor nodes, using optical scheme. The base
station can measure distance between sensor node and base station and line of sight angle using photo detectors,
TDC(Time to Digital Convertor), MEMS(Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) CCR(Corner Cube Retroreflector).
However, due to the straight ability of light, sensor nodes placed in a straight line from the base
station cant be detected. In addition, if sensor node is placed on bad posture about base station, base station
cant detect it because power of reflected beam from MEMS CCR is weaker than threshold of photo detector.
Thus, we propose multiple base station system which can detect sensor nodes placed in a straight line and on
bad posture.
