- Abstract
- Author showed both theoretical background and
experimental results of the three statistical methods
in estimating the number of E, Coli aerogeneic group
in water per unit volume, and compared the results of these three methods.
1) On the basis of theoretical process, author prepared
the practically convenient "quick reference"
graphs, Fig. 1 & 1', Fig. 2, and Fig. 3,. showing the
average number of Micro-organisms per unit volume
as a function of the value obtained from the experimental
results, and the 95%confidence interval of the
estimators.
2) Experimental results showed that the comparative
size of variability of each estimator derived from
Colony Counting methods, MPN method and S·K
method were in following order:
MPN>S-K>Colony Counting.
From this follows: the statistical efficiencies of these
three estimator would look like this.
Colony counting>S-K>MPN
This indicated that the experimental results were in
general agreement with theory.
3) Finally referring to the weights of both statistical
efficiency and technical convenience, the Spearman
Karber method were recommended as the good
estimation.
