수퍼 마법사(Super Magician)의 복귀(Return): 수퍼 히어로 신화(Super Hero Myth)로 해석한 ``해리 포터``(Harry Potter)의 신화

Abstract

In the early twenty century, Hollywood produces so many ``Super Heroes`` who are the characters of the comic books. Actually, we can see a lot of movies titles in the theater like as Superman, Spider-man, Batman, Thor, Hulk, Green Lantern, X-men, Iron Man etc. Thus, Some movies critics call these phenomenon, ``the return of superheroes`` because they all were superhero characteristics of the old comic books. In this way, we can easily define that the characters are super heroes and classify the superhero genre. However, there are other many superhero movies out of this definition. I think Harry Potter is the typical movie among them. In this paper, I examine why Harry Potter is a superhero and a superhero movies genre. Of courses, there are many reasons I have a firm confidence of it. B. J. Oropeza has been studied about superhero myth of movies and produced a lot of articles. In his book, he provides seven ``family resemblances`` among the superheroes. According to his seven traits, I analyze Harry Potter as a superhero. As a result, we can understand the true meaning of superhero in the recent movies and the mythological role of superhero of our society.

인간을 정의하는 용어 중에, 종교적 인간(Homo Religiosus)1)라 는 개념어가 있다. 라틴어 단어의 진술 그대로 인간은 태생적으로 매우 종교적인 감성을 가지고 있는 존재라는 뜻이다. 인간의 삶에서 종교는 직립보행을 시작하게 되면서 얻게 된 공간의 개념만큼 오래 된 삶의 해석방식 중에 하나였다. 즉 인간은 자신을 자각하기 시작 하면서 삶을 성화하고, 의미화 하기 위한 종교적인 개념과 사고들을 갖추기 시작했다. 그런 면에서 인간현상을 설명하는 데에 있어서 종 교는 매우 효과적이며 설득력을 확보한 설명방식이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 현대인들이 과거에 비종교적인 영역이 늘어 난 것은 사실이 지만, 한편으로 볼 때에 자신들이 깊이 있게 인지하지 못할 뿐이지 그래도 여전히 많은 종교적인 요소와 신화들을 기억하며 간직하고 있다. 물론 과거에서의 전면에서 드러난 신화적 삶이 아닌 전적으로 다른 방식으로 종교적인 것들은 현대의 삶과 문화 속으로 침잠되어 있다고 언명할 수 있다. 그것을 우리는 잔존과 위장이라는 단어를 통해 풀어 낼 수 있을 것이다.
