K-POP과 신한류에 대한 텔레비전 담론 : 다큐멘터리 프로그램의 글로벌 성공 이야기 구조를 중심으로

Abstract

이 글은 K-POP과 신한류의 성공을 자축하는 지상파 방송의 다큐멘터리 분석을 통해 신한류 담론의 특성과 의미화 방식을 살펴보려는 목적을 갖고 있다. 비판적 담론 분석 방법론을 변용하여 14편의 지상파 방송 다큐멘터리를 분석한 결과, 주요 이야기 구조는 제작이라는 측면을 비추지 않은 채 아이돌 스타의 열정, 노력과 그에 감명을 받은 글로벌한 팬덤의 열정을 담는 것으로 구성되어 있었다. 이는 국가의 문화 정책 담론, 그리고 신자유주의적 성공 담론과 결합하면서 사회적 의미를 만들어 낸다. 또한 아시아가 아닌 유럽을 글로벌로 설정하여 유럽에 한국의 문화를 알리는 것을 주요 목표로 두려고 한다. 이러한 신한류 이야기 구조 속에서 지워진 국가 부문 및 제작 부문을 살펴보는 것이 중요한 과제가 될 것이다.

This study analyzes the documentaries of ground‐wave broadcasts celebrating themselves for the success of K‐POP and the new Korean wave in order to examine the characteristics and signification of the new Korean wave discourse. The documentary programs intending to omit the aspects of production either intentionally or recklessly in highlighting the new Korean wave suggest the narrative structure of the idol stars passion and effort and the passion of global fandom impressed by it. Although calculating the economic effects of the Korean wave is what the experts should do, this becomes the result of global audiences responses to the voluntary global culture, not the result of production or planning. Those stories become combined with the nations cultural political discourse and neo‐liberalistic success discourse and create social significance. K‐POP itself does not become meaningful along with the Koreans passion to check how much the Korean wave is recognized in Europe or America at the same time, but they should be associated with informing them of the Korean culture that is even classier after all. Also, the major goal is set as informing Korean culture to Europe putting the global range in Europe, not Asia. Conventional or imperialistic recognition on culture or region is still being exposed. It will be a crucial task to examine the producers of the Korean wave products as well as the national sector omitted within that narrative structure of the new Korean wave.
