dc.description.abstractIn this paper, I examine problems which Korean teaching materials currently used in U.S.A. have and attempt to find the way to solve them. Basically, the teaching materials should be developed under the consideration of the students' communicative competence.

At this perspective, it is argued the problems of the existing teaching materials. They are as follows. - There is much to be desired in relation to each introductions amomg contents and main objective, the unnatural repeated phrasing, discourse not fitted for learners in culture and translation into English in teaching materials. In addition, there are many problems about explaining grammar, terms and the parts connected with pragmatics and language use, using vocabularies, constructing contents involving review lessons, and developing

audio-visual aids.

I present some ways of developing teaching materials based on above-mentioned matters. Above all, the teaching materials should be developed which include discourses fitted for student in culture, contents corresponded with real life, everyday languages, and various and plentiful expressions. To explain grammar and terms flexibly also have to be considered.
