dc.description.abstractThey think that the television news is impartial and objective. But the television news is not. Because of attitude of newsman and editor, situation, context etc, the event reported through the television news is not the event that happened in the world Therefore, the 1V audience must watch critically the television news and have judgment.

This paper attempts to look into the distinctive quality of television news and to analyses the language of the television news, In this paper I analyses contents and language of news on "Saemangeum reclamation project" reported in KBS MBC SBS on 25. 5. am. Judging from word selection, amount and place of information in news text, the KBS news is showed well meaning for reclamation work relatively in comparison with the MBC news and the SBS news.

We must teach students to interpret the message of news critically. Students must develop their ability to analyses language usage of television news and grasp the intention of the news and evaluate the form and content of the news. This education is a aspect of media education and is similar to critical reading comprehension in Korean language education.
