dc.description.abstractWe investigate a number of qualification schemes of the English teachers for the speakers of other languages in UK In particular, we examine the case of Trinity College in detail. Including Trinity College, British certificate-awarding bodies do not run training courses themselves, but only validate the certificate courses of various teaching organizations after checking whether they meet required criteria All teaching organizations have to be validated through rigorous inspection process in order to run certificate courses. A trainee who finish one of the validated courses and pass examination (both internal and external) is given her certificate from an awarding body. Helped by some lessons we have learned from the schemes of UK we present some implications for the certification schemes of Korean as a foreign language.-
