한,미 주요대학의 직업기초능력관련 교양교과목 편성 실태에 관한 비교연구

Abstract

본 연구는 한국과 미국의 연구중심대학과 교육중심대학의 교양교육과정을 분석하여 직업기초능력 관련 교과목 편성 현황을 비교하여, 우리나라 대학에서 직업기초능력 함양을 위한 교육과정을 편성하는 데에 기초 자료와 시사점을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 첫째, 대학단계에서 습득해야 할 직업기초능력의 하위영역과 요소를 확인하였다. 둘째, 이러한 직업기초능력의 요소들을 중심으로, 본 연구에서 선정한 한국과 미국의 연구중심대학과 교육중심대학의 교양교육과정에 나타난 직업기초능력관련 교과목 편성 실태를 분석하였다. 셋째, 이상의 분석 결과에 근거하여 직업기초능력 함양을 위한 대학 교양교육과정 편성의 시사점을 모색하고자 하였다. 이상의 과정을 거쳐 수행된 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 선행연구의 분석을 통하여 확인한 대학단계에서 개발해야 할 직업기초능력의 하위영역은 자기관리 및 개발능력, 대인관계능력, 의사소통능력, 조직이해능력, 정보활용능력, 기획능력, 문제해결능력 등 7가지 영역으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 대학단계에서 개발해야 할 직업기초능력에 비추어 한국과 미국 10개 대학의 교양 교육과정을 분석한 결과, 미국 대학들에 비하여 한국 대학들이 관련 교과목의 수, 중핵 영역의 설정, 다양한 하위영역별 배분 등 사회적 요구에 더욱 적극적으로 대응하고 있는 것으로 드러났다. 셋째, 대학단계에서 개발해야 할 직업기초능력의 영역과 수준에 대한 경험적이고 기초적인 연구에 바탕을 둔 대학 교양교육과정의 체계적이고 효율적인 개발의 필요성을 제기하였다.

The main purpose of this study was to explore the implications on organization of general curriculum for key competencies by analyzing 10 undergraduate's curriculum in Korea and United States. For the purpose of this study, the contents of the study were as follows. First, the key competencies required for the undergraduates' career development were found. Second, An analysis of undergraduate's curriculum for key competencies between Korea and United States was conducted. According the findings based on these analysis, some general characteristics have been found as follows. First, there were seven key competencies required for the undergraduates' career development. Those were self-management and development, human relationship, communication, organizational awareness, information, planning. Second, general curriculum in Korea have reflected more social needs than United States's. Third, curriculum should be developed based on empirical and basic study on key competencies.
