발전교육론으로서 정범모(鄭範謨)의 자기결정론의 의미 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 국제교육개발협력분야 사업에서 공통된 목표를 설정하고 기본이념을 설립해야 할 필요성을 중심으 로 정범모(鄭範謨)의 발전교육론을 분석적으로 검토하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 통하여 개발도상국의 국 가발전에 있어 교육의 역할과 시사점을 탐색하고자 한다. 정범모의 발전교육론은 개인의 자아실현 및 본연의 가치를 추구하는 이론적 체계로, 자기결정론이란 개념을 중심으로 발전을 위한 교육의 근대화를 강조하 고 있다. 일반적으로 발전교육론이 갖는 교육의 기능주의적 접근을 취하고 있다는 점에서, 정범모의 자기결정 론은 국가와 사회의 구조적 갈등과 문제를 간과하고 있다는 점에서 비판될 수 있다. 또한 자기결정론이 인간과 교육의 수단화된 기능에 초점을 맞추고 있다는 비판에도 직면한다. 그러나 정범모의 자기결정론은 한국의 국가발전과정에서 교육이 차지해온 기능과 역할을 정립하는데 기여했다는 점에서 개발도상국과 교육개발협력 에 시사하는 바가 크다. 즉, 교육개발의 담론으로서 자기결정론은 첫째, 국가발전을 위한 교육은 사회 전반 적인 발전이 우선시 되는 것이 아니라 동시에 개인의 발전 또한 이룩해야 한다는 점; 둘째, 국가발전을 위한 교육은 개인의 자아실현을 위한 사회발전을 추구해야 한다는 점; 마지막으로, 국가발전을 위한 교육은 편중된 교육의 성장보다는 통합적인 교육의 성장을 추구해야 한다는 점에서 교육의 개발을 위한 중요한 .원칙을 제시하 고 있다.

This research aims at suggesting shared goals of International development education cooperation of Korea by employing the Chung's theory of education development and emphasizing the necessity of philosophical foundation in the area through implications of International development education cooperation of Korea in developing countries. The theory carried forward the modernization of education in development through "self determination theory," which emphasizes self-realization of individuals and pursuit of their true values. The implications of the theory are as followings; First, the education should not only focus on the development of the society in general, but also development of individuals. Second, the education should focus on the development of the society through self-realization of individuals. Thirds, the educations should focus on the comprehensive educational growth, not growth of limited parts of education.
