The writer studied on the regional difference of the commercial structure, especially on the retail and wholesale structure of 32 Korean cities, using data obtained from the Wholesale & Retail Trade Census Report of Korea (1968). The basic criteria of this study are the number of establishments and workers, and annual sales of retail and wholesale trade. The writer used Nelson's classification mehtod of cities and examined the intensity rating of commerce, the number of establishments per 100 persons and annual sales per 1 person. Korean cities, including larger portion of agricultural area in their legal boundaries, have many employees in primary industry . So, only 23.9% of the urban labour forces are engaged in commercial activites. And conclusions of this study are as follow. 1) The variation of annual sales among cities is greater than that of the number of the catablishments and workers among cities. This says that, on the economic point of view, there is great discrepancy among the Korean cities, and further more between the urban area and rural community.-
