韓國地理學에서 工業立地硏究의 動向과 爭點

Abstract

This study aims to review and discuss issues and problems of studies on industrial location in Korea. Researches on industrial location have been donducted since 1960 in Korean geographical society. Brisk research activity with diverse research thmes and methodologies, however, has been a treand sice mid-1970s. Because of this relative short history of the research on the industrial location, more problems rather than issues have been exposed. Major research directions of the industrial

location studies can be broadly divided into five: 1) researches on the division of industrial areas and the regional structure of industry; 2) analysis of locational changes in manafacturing at a metropolitan scale or at a national scale; 3) theoretical studies on industrial agglomerations and on locational changes in manufacturing; 4) studies on the industrial location with relation to location policies and regional developments; 5) behavioral approaches or studies on the impact of industrial organizations on the industrial location. In the researches on the division of industrial areas, selection of variables, justification of division methods, and methods of map representations have been the main issues of

discussions. Many studies tried to deal with the regional structures by industry types.
